Job summary

Behavioral Health Network, Inc. seeks a CBHC Clinician A to join its Outpatient Services team. The role focuses on comprehensive assessments, evidence‑based therapy, and care coordination across CBHC locations and telehealth platforms in Western Massachusetts.

Qualified candidates hold a Master’s in a license‑eligible behavioral health field and MA licensure (LICSW/LMHC). The position offers growth, teamwork, and a mission‑driven culture within BHN since 1938.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a license-eligible behavioral health field required.
  • Current independent MA license such as LICSW or LMHC required.
  • Experience or training with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform behavioral health assessments and determine level of care using evidence-based tools.
  • Provide short-term and ongoing therapy (individual, family, group) per approved pathways.
  • Complete risk and safety evaluations and document progress within timelines.
  • Coordinate with care team, families, guardians, and community partners to support integrated care.
  • Maintain caseloads and adapt scheduling to program needs.
  • Deliver services across CBHC locations, homes, schools, and telehealth platforms.

  • Pay or shift range: $75,000 USD to $85,000 USD

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments and determine the appropriate level of care using evidence-based clinical tools and sound clinical judgment.
  • Provide short-term, solution-focused interventions through the CBHC Access Center and deliver individual, couples, family, and group therapy using BHN-approved evidence-based frameworks and treatment pathways.
  • Complete comprehensive risk and safety evaluations and take appropriate action to support the safety of individuals served and others.
  • Coordinate regularly with Access Navigators, care team members, family members, guardians, residential providers, and other community partners to support integrated, person-centered treatment.
  • Help individuals make measurable progress toward assessed needs and treatment goals, using standardized assessment and outcome tools to guide care.
  • Support individuals in transitioning to the least intensive clinically appropriate level of care while maintaining treatment frequency and duration consistent with medical necessity and utilization-management guidelines.
  • Complete progress notes, comprehensive and diagnostic assessments, Integrated Individual Action Plans, plan updates, and other required clinical documentation accurately and within established timelines.
  • Maintain an appropriate caseload, direct-service volume, work schedule, and performance expectations, adjusting scheduling and caseload mix as needed to meet program objectives.
  • Provide services flexibly across CBHC locations, homes, schools, healthcare settings, community locations, and telehealth platforms based on individual and program needs.
  • Protect confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, ethical standards, payer requirements, regulatory requirements, and BHN policies.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, evidence-based treatment consultation, required training, and continuing education while working toward or maintaining professional licensure.

Who You Are:

  • Master's degree in a license-eligible behavioral health field required.
  • Current independent clinical license in Massachusetts, such as LICSW, LMHC, required.
  • Experience or training working with individuals who have co-occurring mental health and substance-use disorders, or a demonstrated willingness to develop this expertise.
  • Broad knowledge of mental health conditions and treatment approaches, including the needs of adults with serious and persistent mental illness and/or children with serious emotional disturbance.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based assessment, psychotherapy, treatment planning, risk evaluation, crisis response, and appropriate level-of-care determination.
  • Ability and willingness to provide high-quality care to clinically complex individuals and families from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, religious, gender-identity, and sexual-orientation backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of community resources and the ability to coordinate services, facilitate referrals, and support continuity of care.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organization, time-management, documentation, and follow-through skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to urgent need
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, internet, word-processing, email, and telehealth platforms.
  • Flexibility to provide services in multiple settings and maintain an established schedule that may include rotating evening or weekend coverage based on CBHC needs.
