Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL seeks an Access Center Specialist I to manage clinical and non-clinical calls, schedule appointments, perform basic triage, and manage referrals. This full-time role supports access, revenue cycle, and scheduling objectives while upholding Rush policies and patient-first service.

The position requires a high school diploma; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Bilingual skills and CHAA certification are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Answers all calls to schedule patients per Epic guidelines.
  • Evaluates non-scheduling inquiries and routes accordingly.
  • Assesses caller needs and escalates as needed.
  • Documents patient interactions in Salesforce, Genesys and Epic.
  • Monitors Epic build issues and proposes resolutions.
  • Explains financial responsibilities and handles point-of-service collections.
  • Acts as patient resource for Rush services and campus navigation.
