Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago seeks a part-time Access Center Specialist I to handle clinical and non-clinical calls, schedule visits, perform basic triage, and manage referrals. Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in patient care or related setting strongly preferred.
• Bilingual skills a plus.
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred.
• Excellent communication and outstanding customer service and listening skills required.
• Critical thinking, sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills essential.
• Must be team-oriented, open minded, flexible, and willing to learn.
• Ability to type 40 WPM and process basic Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word experience.

Responsibilities

• Answers all telephone calls within your work assignment to accurately schedule patients per guidelines.
• Evaluates non-scheduling inquiries including clinical calls; routes and escalates per guidelines.
• Assess caller needs and provide resolutions with sound judgment; escalate as needed.
• Leverage Salesforce and Genesys to optimize patient interactions and workflow.
• Monitor areas of concern and suggest resolutions around Epic build issues.
• Understand Rush Access Center processes, including questionnaires, auto search, and referral capture.
• Document appointment information and notify patients of critical visit information.
• Support revenue cycle by discussing financial responsibility and referral requirements.
• Complete point of service collections over the phone using secure payment options.
• Assist patients with campus navigation, billing procedures, and service offerings.
• Maintain patient privacy and foster a productive, team-oriented environment.
