Job summary

Michigan State University FRIB Laboratory in East Lansing seeks an entry-level mechanical engineer to design and document innovative devices for heavy-ion accelerator development and operation.

You will produce CAD drawings, support fabrication and commissioning, and collaborate with project leaders to translate technical requirements into solid design solutions. On-site only; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• One to three years in electronics, mechanical drafting or related fields are preferred.
• Experience with CAD/CAE tools is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce and document design solutions by developing concepts and CAD details.
• Create 2-D and 3-D drawings and models for detailed fabrication drawings.
• Support fabrication, assembly, and commissioning of equipment.
• Assist with reviewing layouts, budgets, and project documentation.
• Communicate progress and issues to project stakeholders.
