Job summary

University of Arkansas in Fayetteville seeks Academic tutors to provide instructional support in specific content areas and to help students build effective study skills. You will plan weekly sessions, communicate with students and staff, and document progress to support independent learning.

The role requires a minimum of 30 credit hours, a 3.0 GPA, and a B or better in tutor subjects, with availability two evenings per week.

Qualifications

  • Earned at least 30 credit hours.
  • Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Earned a B (A preferred) in the classes you wish to tutor.
  • Provide two letters of recommendation, one from University faculty/staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement weekly tutoring sessions to promote independent learning.

  • Identify and address study skill needs during tutoring.
  • Prepare and submit accurate session records.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge base in the tutoring subject area.
  • Follow FERPA, Sexual Harassment, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Comply with NCAA tutoring policies for student-athletes.
  • Attend training to develop instructional skills and policy compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Summary of Job Duties:

Academic tutors provide instructional support to students in specific academic content areas and help students develop successful study skills.

Primary job duties include:

  • Planning and implementing weekly sessions with students to promote independent learning
  • Communicating effectively with students and staff
  • Identifying and addressing study skill needs for students in the context of their tutoring sessions
  • Preparing and submitting accurate records of sessions with students.
  • Maintaining a high level of knowledge in their academic content area.
  • Knowing and complying with University FERPA, Sexual Harassment, and confidentiality guidelines
  • Knowing and complying with policies governing the tutoring of student-athletes in the NCAA
  • Attending training exercises designed to develop instructional skills and compliance with University and NCAA policies regarding the tutoring of student-athletes
  • Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have earned at least 30 credit hours
  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Earned a B (A preferred) in the classes you wish to tutor
  • Available at least two evenings each week to tutor (Sunday – Thursday)
  • Can provide two letters of recommendation, one of which must be a University Faculty/Staff reference who can speak to knowledge and capacity to tutor
