Job summary

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno, Nevada seeks an Academic Advisor to support continuing and transfer students with goal setting, degree planning and program exploration. You will work with Advising staff and campus partners to provide accurate information and timely guidance, including Express Advising and email inquiries.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field and at least one year of advising experience; bilingual skills and PeopleSoft experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, student development or related field.
• One year of experience as an Academic Advisor or related student services area.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: one year of experience advising at a community college or university.
• Preferred: one year of experience working with PeopleSoft.
• Preferred: bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise continuing and transfer students through appointments and workshops.
• Assist students with goal setting, major exploration, degree options and planning.
• Collaborate with Advising staff and campus departments for accurate information.
• Answer questions via Express Advising and advising email.
• Help students understand placement options for English and Math.
• Guide students on MyTMCC usage, What-if Scenario, My Planner and class enrollment.
• Attend professional development to enhance advising quality.
