Job summary

Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, NV seeks an Academic Advisor to guide continuing and transfer students through individual sessions and group workshops. You will assist with goal setting, major exploration, degree options, and educational planning for all TMCC degrees and programs.

You will collaborate with Advising staff and other campus departments to ensure timely, accurate information and respond to inquiries via Express Advising and email. Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in education, student development or a related field.
• One year of experience as an Academic Advisor or in a related student services area.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Advise continuing and transfer students through individual appointments and group workshops.
• Assist students with goal setting, major exploration, degree options and planning for TMCC programs.
• Collaborate with Advising staff and campus departments to ensure accurate information.
• Respond to questions via Express Advising and advising email.
• Help students understand placement options for English and Math.
• Assist with MyTMCC usage for advisement reports and course enrollment.
• Place substitutions for transferred courses and credits for prior learning.
• Attend professional development to improve advising quality.
