Job summary

Cal Poly’s Mustang Success Center seeks an Academic Advisor to design and implement programs that support undergraduate students’ academic success across colleges and departments. You will collaborate with the MSC Director and advising staff to deliver innovative advising, mentoring, and career planning services.

Responsibilities include one-on-one advising, group sessions, and leading essential workshops for first-year students.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in behavioral sciences, public/business administration or related field.
• Two years of professional experience in student services or related area.
• A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive academic advising and support services to students at the MSC.
• Use interviewing and counseling to provide one-on-one advising, mentoring, career planning, and group sessions.
• Coordinate workshops for first-year milestones such as Orientation and Registration.
• Drive program improvement with data reports and ongoing assessment of student success.
• Lead and coordinate new programs like First Year Success, Orientation, and early alert initiatives.
