Job summary

Park University is seeking an Academic Success Advisor to support students in achieving educational goals, including tailored academic, career, and financial plans. You will collaborate with various student support units to remove barriers and promote success across Parkville campus and online modalities.

The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both face-to-face and in a virtual environment, making email, chat, or phone interactions with students.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Able to work on a non-traditional schedule, specifically evenings and weekends.
• Preference given to Veterans or candidates with military experience or affiliation.
• Preference given to candidates with working knowledge and experience with a wide range of computer technology such as Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), databases, call center, and CRM systems.
• Preference given to candidates with advising or career counseling experience.
• Preference given to candidates with international experiences or knowledge of international student processes.
• Preference given to applicants who speak multiple languages.
• Must be able to work with a diverse student and faculty population.

Responsibilities

• Counsel and advise students on degree choices, modalities, and course selections.
• Assist students with class enrollment, degree planning, and re-enrollment.
• Conduct orientation and planning interviews during the first term across in-person, online, or phone channels.
• Perform regular progress check-ins and proactive notifications for financial aid and registration processes.
• Coordinate with support units to provide academic, career, and financial guidance.
• Liaise with faculty and staff to connect students with appropriate services and opportunities.
• Document issues impacting student success and inform policy revisions to support retention.
