Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools seeks an Academic Specialist for Special Education – Secondary. The role plans and leads projects aligned to the AACPS Strategic Plan, including assessment, curriculum, data analysis, and professional learning for stakeholders.

Requires a Master's degree and 4 years of classroom experience; leadership and PD experience preferred. Responsibilities include coordinating with multiple offices and outside partners to ensure program fidelity and equity.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in education or related field required.
• Four (4) years of successful classroom teaching experience required.
• One (1) year experience as a school-based teacher leader preferred.
• One (1) year experience providing professional development to adult learners preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate AACPS's mission, vision, goals, and expectations for assessment, curriculum, and instruction to staff and community.
• Plan, oversee, and lead program/content projects from ideation to completion.
• Support leadership in reviewing and implementing researched-based programming.
• Collaborate with school administration to enhance teacher capacity.
• Analyze student achievement data to evaluate program effectiveness and adjust resources.
• Provide professional learning on instructional best practices with a focus on equity.
• Ensure fidelity of program implementation across schools and document services as appropriate.
• Coordinate system initiatives outside the school day (evenings, weekends, summer).
• Work with internal and external offices and stakeholders to advance content/program initiatives.
