Hiring Specifications
- Required: Valid Iowa teaching license with a K-8 reading endorsement
- Desired: Previous teaching experience; Experience in an urban school setting
- Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Knowledge of subject, curriculum, effective teaching methods; Effective communication skills both oral and written
Essential Functions
- Coordinate and provide strategic supplemental academic instruction to meet the individual needs of students.
- Identify students in need of supplemental interventions to support core instruction.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administration, and families to identify best practices for individual and small groups of students.
- Plan and teach interventions based on the learning needs of students using high quality materials based in research.
- Monitor student learning daily using multiple data points to guide group and individualized instruction.
- Ensure intervention sequence aligns with classroom instruction and building MTSS.
- Document interventions in Panorama Students success and record monitoring data there.
- Participate in professional learning communities, literacy and math training for staff, and ongoing professional development opportunities for Interventionists.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of building professional development.
- Communicate with families on a regular basis.
- Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards.
