Position Summary

The Academic Interventionist’s primary purpose is to assist in improving academic achievement of all students in grades 1‑12. The Academic Interventionist works directly with teacher(s) to help students reinforce Reading and Mathematics skills. The role involves planning, implementing, and assessing intervention services to ensure fidelity; enabling teachers’ capacity to effectively implement identified core or universal instructional practices for individual students or small groups. Academic Interventionists collaborate with classroom teachers in planning and implementing English/ELA and math intervention initiatives through the iReady program.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• Evidence of coursework in Mathematics, English/ELA, Reading, Science or Bilingual studies
• At least three (3) years of direct work experience with students
• Understanding of and commitment to implementing academic intervention activities for grades 1‑12

Essential Functions

• Communicate effectively and collaborate successfully with staff, families, caregivers, and community members
• Develop and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and supportive campus climate for all members of the community
• Counsel and support students who need additional academic services to advance their progress
• Be attuned to students’ socio‑emotional needs, building trusting and caring relationships with young people
• Work with families, students, and staff to develop and implement individualized academic intervention plans
• Partner with the P‑20 Child and Family Support Services Coordinator when applicable
• Assist teachers in planning and facilitating instructional tasks for individual or small groups of students
• Assist with differentiating instruction and academic support based on individual strengths and needs
• Work directly with teachers to reinforce Mathematics, English/ELA or Reading, Computer, and/or Bilingual skills, and to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences
• Use computer applications and information technology to support students in improving Mathematics and/or English/ELA skills
• Assist teachers in monitoring successful implementation of the school’s curriculum
• Plan and implement differential reading lessons using the iReady intervention program in collaboration with the classroom teacher
• Collaborate with teachers to provide consistent, intensive, and targeted instruction to students
• Participate in required professional development
• Demonstrate efficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Security Clearance

Internal Applicants
