Job summary

Educators for Quality Alternatives (EQA) in New Orleans is seeking an Interventionist to lead literacy and math interventions for students who face literacy gaps and behavioral challenges.

The role focuses on building relationships, designing evidence-based curricula, and coordinating with the Special Education Coordinator to support students across campuses. This full-time position offers comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BA or BS required.
• Demonstrated record of effectively improving adolescent literacy and skills.
• Knowledge of and experience with a variety of literacy and math curricula.
• Experience with and commitment to working restoratively with students with emotional and behavior struggles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible, open to change, quick-learning, self-directed, and able to manage in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment.
• Learning mindset dedicated to effectively and innovatively problem solving and constantly improving.
• Comfortable with excel, databases and online communication.
• Passion for improving educational opportunities for urban students and for being a part of a strong, mission-driven teams.

Responsibilities

• Building genuine and transformational relationships with every student.
• Designing and selecting effect, research-based curricula which support adolescent literacy and math development.
• Teaching Tier 2, Tier 3, and/or Special Education Interventions in both reading and math.
• Organizing and maintaining 504 plans.
• Providing small group pull outs, individual tutoring, test prep, Act 833 portfolio development etc.
• Collaborating with team to insure all students receive the appropriate supports, accommodations, and modifications.
• Insure all students complete initial and progress monitoring literacy and math testing.
• Constantly developing your craft.
