Job summary

Rutgers University–Newark's Department of Anesthesiology seeks two General Anesthesiologists for full-time Assistant Professor, non-tenure track appointments beginning February 1, 2026. Duties include on-site anesthesia for adult patients at University Hospital, teaching residents, and participating in departmental initiatives.

Applicants must have an MD degree (or equivalent), be board eligible or board certified, and hold or be eligible for New Jersey licensure.

Qualifications

• MD/board eligible or board certified.
• Anesthesiologist/General Anesthesia expertise.
• NJ medical licensure eligibility required.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site anesthesia services to adult patients at University Hospital and other OR locations.
• Conduct intraoperative and didactic teaching of residents.
• Engage in research activities advancing the discipline.
• Coordinate with surgical teams clinically and administratively.
• Complete medical records within specified timelines and participate in faculty development.
