Position Summary

Position Summary: Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor III- Raton, FL. The Academic Advisor III role will support admissions, recruitment, onboarding, advising, and student success initiatives within the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing. This position serves as a primary resource for prospective and current nursing students, providing specialized advising, managing admissions and onboarding processes, coordinating recruitment and engagement events, and supporting student progression from inquiry through graduation. The Academic Advisor III collaborates with faculty, staff, and university partners to enhance enrollment, retention, and student success while ensuring compliance with program and university requirements. The ideal candidate is a highly organized professional with strong communication, advising, and data management skills who is committed to fostering student achievement and belonging.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • Admissions & Recruitment: Host and facilitate information sessions for the Prelicensure track, counseling prospective students and families on entry requirements and program expectations. Manage and present College of Nursing information at University Orientation sessions to ensure incoming students understand program expectations and institutional processes. Provide high-level logistical coordination for university undergraduate recruitment events, including Choose FAU, Discovery FAU, and Explore FAU. Manages undergraduate recruitment initiatives by preparing and updating presentation materials and ensuring College marketing resources are available for all events.
  • Onboarding & Student Transition: Evaluates applicant files within NursingCAS and university systems for multiple program tracks to ensure program-specific admissions compliance. Initiates onboarding for admitted students, including background check processes and enrollment transition steps. Verifies final transcripts, required documentation, and compliance materials for matriculation readiness. Support undergraduate recruitment initiatives by preparing and updating presentation materials and ensuring College marketing resources are available for all events. Provides high-level administrative leadership for applicant interview coordination, including scheduling, faculty collaboration, and interview preparation.
  • Specialized Advising & Student Success: Provides specialized advising for the nursing program, applying advising/student development theory and evidence-informed practices to improve retention, progression, and timely graduation. Collects, organizes, and summarizes data related to applicants, students, and graduates of the BSN program and reports this information to the director of student services and administration.
  • Volunteer Coordination & Student Engagement (Noble Hours). Manages student engagement and volunteer initiatives that strengthen the community and belonging.
  • Data Management, Reporting, and Degree Progression Systems Support: Maintains detailed progression tracking systems, advising databases, and compliance reports for multiple nursing pathways. Provides leadership in advising resource development and implementation of best practices in pre-licensure student success. Maintains databases and reports to build a pipeline of prospective students, engaging with them from initial contact to enrollment. Prepares and schedules events for the programs.
  • Other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of advising or appropriate experience required.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive Skills in Banner and Navigate.
  • Strong knowledge of student registration processes in Banner.
  • Familiarity with the Nursing program and NursingCAS.
  • Capable of supporting a broad range of operational functions, including admissions, recruitment, onboarding, advising, volunteer coordination, progression, and student success, simultaneously.

Salary: $62,000 - $64,000 annually.

College or Department: CON: Student Services - Advisors

Location: Boca Raton

Work Days and Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
