Job summary

University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for an Academic Advisor in the CHSSA Dean's Office. The Academic Advisor will guide approximately 250–350 new and returning students, helping with major and career decisions, course selections, and progression toward degree completion.

Working with faculty and staff, the advisor provides tailored support, maintains advising files, and may serve on task forces and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Affairs, or a closely related field with three years of progressive experience, or a Master's degree with three years of experience.
• Experience utilizing a range of software applications and educational technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite and LMS.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on majors, careers, and course selections to support degree goals.
• Maintain advising files and monitor academic progress for 250–350 students.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff; participate in orientation, events, and task forces.
• Communicate effectively via phone, video, email, and in person; provide referrals when needed.
