Job summary

RFCUNY Research Foundation of the City University of New York seeks an experienced academic advisor to provide comprehensive advisement to a cohort, guiding students toward degree completion at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

You will develop semester plans, monitor progress, and collaborate with faculty and Career Learning Lab to connect students with internships and opportunities. A master’s degree plus four years of advising experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Four years of full-time academic advising experience.
  • Strong understanding of diverse urban student needs.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed student records.
  • Knowledge of equitable and inclusive advisement practices.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive advisement support to an assigned cohort through degree completion.
  • Create semester-by-semester academic plans using degree maps.
  • Review student progress and provide timely interventions to keep students on track.
  • Enter and track all student contact in program databases; refer services as needed.
  • Coordinate with faculty and staff to support student success.
  • Incorporate career advising into sessions and connect students with internships and opportunities.
