The University of Houston Bauer College of Business seeks a Senior Advisor in the Department of Accountancy & Taxation to guide post-baccalaureate and graduate accounting students on degree progress, course selection, and policies.

Description:

Serves as a senior advisor with advanced expertise. Handles complex advising scenarios, contributes to program development, and leads initiatives.

• Provides advanced advising for complex academic plans (double majors, transfer credits), as well as students in academic distress or special populations.


• Designs and implements student success programs and retention strategies.


• Trains and mentors Academic Advisor 1 & 2 staff.


• Interprets and applies university policies with discretion.


• Analyzes advising data and recommends improvements.


• Serves as liaison between academic departments and advising center.


• Performs other job-related duties as required.

Additional Position Information

Description:

This position works in the Department of Accountancy & Taxation at the C. T. Bauer College of Business. This position engages with students to advise them on academic requirements for degree progress, course selection, policies, procedures, and resources based on an assessment of individual student needs.

Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. This will require exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

Position includes the following responsibilities but not limited to:

• Advise current post-baccalaureate and graduate accounting students with attention to detail and accuracy.


• Process academic forms and letters related to academic advising.


• Assist with planning and executing events for current accounting students.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional disciplines. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job related, 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job related experience.
