Description:

The College of Architecture and Design is looking for anAcademic Advisor (level 1 or level 2). Please see the jobdescription for both levels.

AA1:

Provides basic academic advising support toprospective and enrolled undergraduate students under supervision.Focuses on routine advising, program requirements, and studentsupport services.

1. Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding academicprograms and curriculum.
2. Delivers general academic advising on degree requirements,course selection, and academic policies and procedures.
3. Assists students with registration and schedule planning.
4. Refers students to campus resources (tutoring, counseling,financial aid).
5. Maintains accurate student records in advising systems.
6. Supports orientation and onboarding programs.
7. Responds to routine student inquiries via email andappointments.
8. May assist in recruiting high school and community collegestudents and may make presentations at special events.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical andpractical aspects of an analytical, technical or professionaldiscipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professionaldiscipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtainedthrough a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a collegeor university or an equivalent in-depth specialized trainingprogram that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed. No experience required.

AA2:

Provides comprehensive advising to a diversestudent population with moderate independence. Handles more complexcases and supports student success initiatives.

1. Advises students on academic planning and degree completionstrategies, as well as academic progress concerns (probation,retention).
2. Analyzes degree audits and recommends solutions.
3. Identifies at-risk students and develops interventionplans.
4. Participates in recruitment, advising workshops, andoutreach.
5. Collaborates with faculty and departments on studentissues.
6. Maintains caseload of students and tracks outcomes.
7. Processes Veteran's Administration paperwork, writes graduationverification letters, and provides financial aid appeals.
8. May assist in recruiting high school and community collegestudents and may make presentations at special events.
9. Performs other job-related duties as required.
