The University of Houston System is seeking an academic advisor to support graduate and undergraduate students through admissions, program planning, and retention from enrollment through graduation. The role includes processing graduate admissions and advising on degree plans and petitions.
Responsibilities include maintaining student records, coordinating orientations and outreach, and ensuring adherence to university policies.

Provides information to and advises both enrolled andprospective students regarding the academic programs offered by theUniversity or a specific department, including requirements foradmission and retention through graduation; may coordinate the workof entry level academic advisors.
This position is responsible for advising current andprospective graduate students from admissions and retention throughgraduation. Duties involve, but are not limited to:
Preferred candidates will have experience or familiarity withPeopleSoft Campus Solutions or other ERP system such as EllucianBanner; ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others;demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills;strong interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and customerservice skills; keen attention to detail; proficiency in theMicrosoft 365 software.
Education will be considered in lieu ofexperience.
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practicalaspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; orthe basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal,directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university oran equivalent in-depth specialized training program that isdirectly related to the type of work being performed. Requires aminimum of (1) year of directly job-related experience.
