Academic Advisor

Kansas State University’s Carl R. Ice College of Engineering is seeking to fill four full-time academic advising positions. These roles involve advising students in departments such as Architectural Engineering and Construction Science, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Industrial and Manufacturing System Engineering. Advisors will assess student needs, maintain confidentiality, and provide personalized support. Additional responsibilities include recruiting and administrative duties, balanced with advising tasks. The successful candidates will join a team dedicated to enhancing student success through comprehensive advising and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• One year of experience in academic advising or related services

Preferred Qualifications

• Three to five years of collegiate advising or related experience
• Master’s Degree in relevant fields such as College Student Development, Engineering, or STEM Education
• Experience with diverse student populations, including first-generation college students
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience with student information systems like Oracle-PeopleSoft KSIS, DARS, SSC-Navigate
• Competence in in-person and online advising systems
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
• Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to policy changes
