The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM seeks an Academic Advisor to deliver advisement to prospective, current, and returning students. You will work in a team to support enrollment, retention, and graduation goals, with training and mentorship from senior staff.

You will coordinate in-person and online advisement, respond to student inquiries, assess readiness, and guide program changes while developing academic plans and schedules; maintain records and support coordinated student

Academic Advisor
Position Summary

The Academic Advisor position in the College of Educationand Human Sciences Pathways for Academic Support and Success Office will work in a team environmentto deliver academic advisement for prospective, current, and returning studentsin support of the University's enrollment, retention and graduation goals.

The successful candidate will receive guidance, training,and mentorship from higher-level personnel as it relates to the delivery ofquality academic advisement.

They will work with others to implement in person and onlineadvisement, tend to student academic inquiries, assess academic level, provideadvice on academic programs and changes, assist in the resolution of individualacademic problems, advise and assist students in the development of academicplans and class schedules, and will develop and maintain appropriate files andrecords.

In addition to working with students, the academic advisorswill work closely with program faculty for student challenge resolution andcontinued implementation of processes for streamlined student success efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: with conducting academic advisement and written and online communications in an academic setting regarding transcripts articulation and outlining institution processes.
  • Ability to: analyze and solve problems using independent judgement and analyze and interpret students’ transcripts and associated records and documents.
  • Knowledge of academic policies and procedures regarding student curriculum requirements.
