Job summary

San Jose City College is seeking an Academic Advising Specialist to support counseling and student services. The role focuses on providing enrollment guidance, degree/transfer information, and career planning for pre-college and college students.

The position offers a 12-month schedule, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and is represented by the California School Employees Association (CSEA).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required for the position.
• At least one year of customer service experience, preferably in an educational setting.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and ability to operate in a campus environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist counseling and advising staff with enrollment, academic and career information.
• Provide information on degrees, certificates, and transfer requirements to students.
• Support new student orientation and enrollment processes.
• Maintain student records and prepare reports as required by funding sources.
• Assist in career exploration activities and use college resources to aid planning.
• Coordinate materials and information for student services and college policies.
