Job summary

San José‑Evergreen Community College District is seeking a full-time EOPS/CARE Counselor in the Counseling and Matriculation division at San Jose City College. The role includes providing academic, career, personal, and crisis counseling, developing educational plans, and guiding students through GE and transfer coursework.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in a related field, experience with EOPS/CARE, and a commitment to serving diverse student populations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Guidance Counseling, Educational Counseling, Social Work, or Career Development.
• Nine semester units of college coursework related to ethnic minorities or disadvantaged students, or six semester units in counseling practicum/field-work in a community-college EOPS program.
• Two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or disadvantaged students.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic, vocational, career, and personal guidance and counseling for EOPS/CARE students.
• Develop abbreviated and comprehensive educational plans to meet EOPS requirements.
• Provide intake, orientation, program advisement, follow-up services, and counseling for EOPS/CARE students.
• Assist students with early enrollment, priority registration, and referrals to services.
• Advocate for students and collaborate with county/community providers.
