Job summary

The City University of New York’s Queensborough Community College invites applications for an Academic Advising Specialist in the Office of Accessibility Services. The role focuses on advising students with disabilities, coordinating accommodations, and supporting retention through targeted workshops.

You will report to the Director of OAS and collaborate with campus partners to ensure accessible services and equitable outcomes for a diverse student body.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
• Experience advising students with disabilities preferred.
• Experience conducting intakes and managing a caseload.
• Knowledge of the ADA as it applies to students with disabilities.
• Experience providing trainings on accessibility tools and software.
• Experience delivering structured workshops on probation recovery and time management.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and group academic advising for students with disabilities.
• Deliver training on assistive technologies and accessibility resources.
• Monitor GPA trends, course completion, and retention indicators.
• Proactive outreach and caseload management for at-risk students.
• Support OAS enrollment management and onboarding processes.
• Plan and deliver workshops on probation recovery, study skills, time management, and test-taking strategies.
• Coordinate referrals with Counseling Center, Financial Aid, and Advocacy Resource Center.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the OAS Director.
