Job summary

Queensborough Community College invites applications for the position of Academic Advising Specialist in the Office of Accessibility Services. The role focuses on supporting students with disabilities through personalized academic advising, onboarding, and access to assistive resources.

Reporting to the Director of OAS, the specialist will deliver training, monitor progress, perform proactive outreach for at-risk students, and collaborate with campus partners to remove barriers to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required.
• Experience providing academic advisement to students with disabilities.
• Knowledge of ADA as it applies to students with disabilities.
• Experience conducting intakes and managing a caseload.

Responsibilities

• Support students with disabilities through individualized and group-based academic advising.
• Facilitate training sessions on assistive technologies and accessibility resources.
• Assess and monitor GPA trends, course completion, and persistence indicators.
• Proactive outreach for at-risk students and case management to reduce stop-out rates.
• Assist with enrollment management, intake, and onboarding processes.
• Plan workshops on probation recovery, study skills, time management, and career exploration.
• Coordinate referrals with Counseling Center, Financial Aid, and Advocacy Resource Center.
