Job summary

Big City Optical in Chicago is seeking an ABO Certified Optician to join our team and support our mission of delivering preeminent eye care. You will help patients select frames and lenses, and accurately measure and fit eyewear to ensure optimal vision and comfort.

In addition, you will assist with inventory control, insurance billing, and patient records while delivering outstanding customer service. You may travel up to 10 miles to support coverage at other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of optical industry experience.
• Active ABO certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel up to 10 miles to support coverage at other locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses.
• Measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses.
• Educate patients on lens options.
• Coordinate with the optometrist to meet patient needs.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of eyewear trends and lens technology.
• Manage inventory and store operations; assist with insurance billing and patient records.
• Conduct follow-up calls for appointment availability.
