Job summary

Walmart Inc. in Darlington, SC is hiring for an Optical Department Leader. You will drive sales growth through merchandising, pricing, inventory oversight, and seasonal execution while aligning assortments to local customer needs.

You will oversee measurements, fittings, contact lens education, and HIPAA-compliant documentation under supervisory optometric guidance, and lead the optical team through hiring and training. Community outreach and patient care are key responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Option 1: Completion of 2 or more years of college.
• Option 2: 1 year's retail experience and 1 year's supervisory experience.
• Option 3: 2 years’ general work experience, including 1 year's optical experience and high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Meets eligibility requirements to work in the Vision Center, including minimum age of 18, certification, registration, licensure, and other qualifications required by company policy and applicable regulations.
• ABO certification through American Board of Opticianry.
• Experience with insurance processing and electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Leads department sales growth through merchandising, pricing accuracy, inventory oversight, and seasonal execution.
• Forecasts sales trends and aligns product assortments with customer needs, community demographics, and local economic patterns.
• Monitors competitive pricing and adjusts strategies to strengthen market relevance and achieve financial targets.
• Leads community outreach efforts to promote optical services, expand brand presence, and strengthen local relationships.
• Oversees precise eyewear measurements, fittings, adjustments, and contact lens education under applicable optometric supervision.
• Ensures the confidentiality of customer information and maintains HIPAA-compliant documentation.
• Leads, coaches, and develops the optical team through hiring, training, performance management, and recognition.
• Oversees appointment scheduling workflows, pre-testing, and billing for optical services under supervision.
