YAI is hiring an Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist (ABIS) in Nassau County to deliver direct care while providing clinical support for habilitative, behavioral, and psychiatric needs under the BIS supervision. The role includes educating staff, supporting assessments, and ensuring accurate data collection to guide behavior support plans.

Qualifications

• Requires foundational knowledge in psychology, behavior support and related human services fields.
• Strong ability to document services and summarize progress for billing and reporting.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Performs Direct Support Professional duties with ABIS responsibilities to supervise and protect individuals.
• Leads community inclusion activities and coordinates resources and funding.
• Provides guidance and training to staff on Behavior Support Plans and data collection.
• Implements Behavior Support Plans and uses person-centered approaches to prevent escalation.
• Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and contributes to program planning.
