Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability in Brooklyn, NY is seeking an Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist (ABIS) for a full-time role based at Bay Ridge 3 IRA. The position requires prior DSP experience, related trainings, and clinical leadership duties under BIS supervision.

Qualifications

• BA/BS Degree in Psychology or Human Services OR Enrolled in 4-year degree in Psychology or Human Services field
• Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills
• Must demonstrate clinical skills and willingness to take initiative

Responsibilities

• To provide direct care services including counseling, implementation of treatment plans, training in ADL skills and data collection.
• To train staff using the EMOE training system, communicate clinical rationales, provide formal and informal feedback, and model appropriate behavior and data collection.
• To develop written, individualized habilitative plans in line with the agency philosophy and conduct behavioral and habilitative assessments.
• To design effective data collection systems, monitor progress monthly, and ensure data sheets are accessible at the start of each month.
• To oversee/maintain completion of all required paperwork, including monthlies and Person-Centered materials, ensuring pertinent information is included in psychiatric anecdotals.
• To provide the appropriate therapeutically documented level of supervision to safeguard health and safety; escalate when unclear, offering maximum protection.
• To train new staff on Level 1 competencies and act as a resource and lead trainer for weekend staff on clinical interventions.
