Job summary

Wisconsin Department of Corrections seeks an Adult Basic Education teacher to deliver competency-based instruction to students in our care. You will manage a classroom, assess progress, and coordinate with other program areas as part of an interdisciplinary team.

The role requires WTCS-approved ABE credentials and a Bachelor’s degree as specified, with transcripts or an active teaching license. The position is not remote; standard hours apply.

Qualifications

• ABE credentials determined by the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Special Education, or Secondary Education in English, Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies, with related credentials.
• Transcripts or active Teaching License required by the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and manage a classroom environment.
• Provide instruction across the competency-based curriculum.
• Conduct assessments and report student progress.
• Monitor and manage student behavior.
• Attend meetings and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
