Job summary

Lexington Public Schools in Lexington, MA, is seeking a Student Support Instructor (SSI) to work with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder using Applied Behavior Analysis principles. ABA Tech/ABA Tutor - Pre-K/Elementary

Lexington Public Schools (MA), System-Wide - Lexington, Massachusetts

Starting Date: Immediate

Terms of Employment: Paraprofessional Staff (209 days) with benefits according to the LEA Unit C collective bargaining agreement.

Notes: August 31st, 2026 Start Date. 32-37.5 hours per week. $33.03-$36.46 per hour.

Position Overview

The Student Support Instructor (SSI) works directly with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, implementing individualized academic and behavior plans, using Applied Behavior Analysis principles. The role includes instruction, behavior management, data collection, and support for social skills and daily living activities.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Classroom experience preferred
  • ABA experience preferred
Responsibilities
  • Work directly with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Implement individualized academic and behavior programs
  • Instruction using Applied Behavior Analysis principles, including discrete trial instruction, task analysis, and naturalistic teaching techniques
  • Implement student-specific behavior plans to decrease challenging behaviors and increase functional behaviors
  • Collect and summarize data to monitor student progress
  • Implement programs in the home to enhance social skills and daily living activities as needed
  • Model implementation of academic and behavior programs for parents
  • Maintain student materials, data sheets, and program notebooks
  • Perform other duties assigned
Schedule

Preschool: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-3:30pm; Friday 8:30am-3:00pm. Total: 32 hours/week.

Elementary: Monday-Thursday 8:15am-3:45pm; Friday 8:15am-2:30pm. Total: 33.75 hours/week.

Middle School: Monday-Tuesday 7:30am-4:30pm; Wednesday-Friday 7:30am-2:45pm. Total: 37.25 hours/week.

High School: Monday-Friday 7:45am-3:15pm. Total: 35 hours/week.

Physical Demands

The job requires frequent sitting, talking, and occasionally walking, handling materials, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Must be willing and able to manage students physically if needed. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
