Lighthouse ABA seeks an Insurance Coordinator to own eligibility and authorization for ABA services. You will verify benefits, secure initial authorizations, and manage re-authorizations to prevent service lapses, acting as a bridge between payers, the clinical team, and families.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in insurance verification, prior authorizations, or a related healthcare administrative role (ABA, behavioral health, or pediatric therapy experience strongly preferred).
• Working knowledge of insurance concepts — eligibility, benefits, authorizations, medical necessity, and payer requirements.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, with a proven ability to manage many deadlines at once without letting anything slip.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
• Comfort working in insurance portals, EHR/practice-management systems, and standard office software (spreadsheets, email).
• Persistence and comfort with payer follow-up — including phone calls and appeals of incomplete or delayed requests.
• A discreet, professional approach to confidential health information (HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• Verify client eligibility and benefits for ABA services and confirm coverage changes.
• Prepare and submit initial authorization requests for ABA assessments and treatment.
• Track active authorizations: units approved, units used, expiration dates; initiate timely re-authorizations.
• Coordinate with BCBAs and clinical team to gather assessments, treatment plans, and reports for authorization.
• Monitor status through submission, follow-up, and payer requests; escalate delays as needed.
• Serve as the primary contact with the insurance team and inform internal teams of authorization status.
• Communicate coverage and authorization details to families clearly.
• Maintain accurate authorization records in client management and payer portals; keep dates and docs current.
• Track key dates and maintain reminders to prevent missed re-authorizations.
• Handle health information in compliance with HIPAA and privacy standards.
