Job summary

ABA Centers of America is seeking an ABA Apprentice to assist a BCBA with caseloads across clinics, homes, and community settings. You will design and monitor ABA programs, conduct assessments, and help prepare progress reports under supervision.

Requirements include active RBT certification and enrollment in a graduate ABA program with extensive fieldwork. The role involves 15–20 hours of direct RBT service weekly and collaboration with families and staff.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in graduate-level ABA courses and working toward BCBA certification.
  • Active RBT certification required.
  • Currently enrolled in ABA master’s program with two semesters (32 weeks) remaining until graduation.
  • Completion of at least 1,000 hours of supervised fieldwork in ABA.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with emphasis on professional report-writing.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with families, educators, and other ASD service providers.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Able to pass background and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and monitor skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs under supervision of a BCBA.
  • Assist BCBA by researching literature related to learners’ programs.
  • Oversee implementation of behavior-analytic programs by others.
  • Write 6-month progress reports with BCBA guidance.
  • Train and design behavioral systems and performance management for technicians.
  • Conduct naturalistic observations and provide feedback to staff.
  • Meet weekly with BCBA to discuss progress and tasks.
  • Create weekly acquisition sheets and update data.
  • Test learners for generalization and update data sheets as skills meet criteria.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY & PURPOSE

ABA Centers of America provides year‑round therapeutic intervention for children, adolescents, and adults with autism spectrum disorder using the science of applied behavior analysis (ABA). Services are delivered in clinics, homes, and community settings. The BCBA maintains a caseload of 6‑9 learners receiving insurance‑funded or private‑pay services. The ABA Apprentice assists an assigned BCBA with unrestricted supervision tasks for a caseload of learners and must provide 15‑20 hours per week of direct RBT service.

POSITIONS' ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, implement, and systematically monitor skill‑acquisition and behavior reduction programs under the supervision of a BCBA.
  • Assist the BCBA by researching literature related to specific learners’ programs.
  • Oversee implementation of behavior‑analytic programs by others.
  • Assist the BCBA by conducting assessments such as preference, functional, and staff performance assessments.
  • Assist the BCBA by writing objectives for initial assessments and providing other needed support.
  • Analyze and summarize assessment results, graphing data as required.
  • Write 6‑month progress reports with supervision and guidance by the BCBA.
  • Train and design behavioral systems and performance management for technicians.
  • Conduct naturalistic observations of learners as directed by the BCBA.
  • Provide staff and caregiver training.
  • Meet with the supervising BCBA at least once per week to discuss learner progress and behavior analytic tasks.
  • Facilitate one team meeting for a learner every other week, with supervision and feedback from the BCBA.
  • Conduct approximately one learner observation per week, giving feedback and instruction to technicians.
  • Write monthly goals for learners as directed by the BCBA.
  • Create weekly acquisition sheets and update them throughout the week as needed.
  • Test learners for skill generalization.
  • Assist with the implementation of an assigned learner’s behavior deceleration plan as needed.
  • Analyze and graph learner data as directed by the BCBA.
  • Create or update data collection systems.
  • Be available to answer questions of technicians working on learners’ cases.
  • Assist the BCBA with answering emails from parents.
  • Follow up with caregivers to ensure generalization of learner objectives.
  • Check learners’ acquisition books for accuracy regarding data collection.
  • Create, prepare, and update acquisition program materials for learners.
  • Adjust and update learners’ data sheets as skills meet criteria.
  • Assist the supervising BCBA in any way needed.
REQUIREMENTS
  • The ABA Apprentice requires the candidate to be enrolled in graduate‑level ABA courses and actively working toward certification as a BCBA.
  • Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification (Required).
  • Currently enrolled in an ABA or equivalent master’s program with only two semesters (32 weeks) remaining until graduation (Required).
  • Completion of at least 1,000 hours of supervised fieldwork in applied behavior analysis (Required).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a particular emphasis on professional report‑writing.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with families, educators, and other ASD service providers to support client outcomes.
