Job summary

Boston Medical Center seeks a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in AAC to provide comprehensive services for adults with complex communication needs in inpatient and outpatient settings.

The AAC Specialist conducts evaluations, selects no-tech to high-tech AAC systems, programs devices, trains staff and patients, collaborates with the care team, and documents for insurance authorization to ensure continuity of care across settings.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Current license and ASHA certification; ASHA membership required.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • AAC experience in a hospital setting beyond a clinical fellowship.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement a full continuum of AAC systems and SGDs.
  • Provide patient and caregiver education, device programming, and training.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and funders for insurance authorization.
  • Document care and ensure continuity across inpatient, outpatient, home, and community settings.
