Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital seeks a certified Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) to join the Inpatient Augmentative Communication Program. The SLP-A will work under a licensed SLP, implementing AAC intervention plans in pediatric ICU and inpatient units, and supporting patients with complex medical needs.

The ideal candidate has 2 years of experience, ASHA C-SLPA certification, and MA state licensure to practice.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited SLPA program, or an Associate's/Bachelor's with SLPA coursework/certificate.
• ASHA C-SLPA certification required.
• 2 years of experience in a related role.
• Strong clinical treatment and documentation skills.
• Flexible and able to adapt to the changing inpatient environment daily needs.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Collaborative, patient- and family-centered approach to care.

Responsibilities

• Implement bedside AAC intervention plans in pediatric ICU and inpatient units.
• Support patients with complex medical needs.
• Complete daily clinical documentation.
• Develop and prepare treatment materials and communication supports.
• Assist in managing AAC equipment and program materials.
• Participate in unit rounds and specialty team meetings as appropriate.
• Provide treatment education and training to patients, families, and staff.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary providers in a fast-paced medical environment.
