Job summary

AAA Mountain West Group (MWG) is seeking a tow operator to join our roadside service team. You will operate tow trucks safely, assist members in distress, diagnose basic vehicle issues, and provide on-scene support to ensure safety and satisfaction.

No prior towing experience is required as we offer paid training, and a valid driver’s license with a clean record is essential. Expect to work 11am–Midnight, including weekends, outdoors in all weather with a strong focus on service.

Qualifications

• No prior towing experience required; top-tier paid training provided.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required where applicable.
• Flexibility to work 11:00–24:00 hours including weekends.
• Outdoor work at vehicle sites; lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills on scene.

Responsibilities

• Operate tow trucks safely and efficiently.
• Provide roadside assistance (tire changes, fuel delivery, lock-outs).
• Diagnose simple vehicle issues to determine solutions.
• Maintain clear, calm communication with members during incidents.
• Work outdoors in all weather and traffic conditions.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

• Operating tow trucks safely and efficiently.
• Performing simple vehicle diagnostics to figure out the issue.
• Providing essential roadside assistance, including tire changes, fuel delivery, and vehicle lock-outs.
• Building trust, problem-solving, and being a calming presence for our members on the scene.
• Clear and proficient verbal and written communication even under pressure Common knowledge of vehicle components and the common reasons for vehicle failure Demonstrates problem solving and listening skills to evaluate member safety as well as the ability to discern safety issues and respond appropriately Ability to drive a manual/automatic shift vehicle

What We Are Looking For

• No prior towing experience required! We provide top-tier, paid training for the role.

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (where applicable).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Works outdoors at vehicle sites when servicing vehicles. Lifting and carrying tires and parts, weighing up to 50 pounds, several times a day; bending, kneeling and stooping as required for service calls. Works in all weather and all traffic conditions. Vehicle recovery sites may be wet, messy and hazardous. Service Providers are required to provide a photograph for identification purposes.
