Job summary

AAA Driving School is seeking a part-time Driving School Instructor to help new teen drivers build confidence and skills in a supportive learning environment. You will teach in AAA training vehicles, reinforce safe driving habits, and communicate with families and schools to promote responsible driving education.

This role emphasizes patient instruction, clear feedback, and the ability to manage lessons, documentation, and client interactions while contributing to safer roads in the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• PA driver’s license with no moving violations in the last 3 years.
• At least five years of driving experience and a minimum of 15,000 miles driven.
• Knowledge of PA traffic laws and PennDOT licensing examination requirements.
• Private Driver Training School Teacher Certificate or the ability to obtain within three months of hire.
• Pass a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality behind-the-wheel instruction in AAA training vehicles.
• Explain safe driving techniques and the proper mechanical operation of a vehicle.
• Help students practice driving in city, rural, and highway environments.
• Evaluate driving habits, reactions, parking skills, and overall vehicle control.
• Teach Pennsylvania traffic laws, motor vehicle regulations, and safe driving practices.
• Maintain constant awareness of the driving environment and respond quickly when safety concerns arise.
• Occasionally provide classroom instruction to novice and experienced drivers.
• Occasionally assess the in‑car driving skills of experienced drivers.
• Communicate with students and customers by phone and email.
• Schedule lessons, process payments, complete required documentation, and meet established deadlines.
• Represent AAA Driving School at schools and community events.
• Help families and community members understand the benefits of professional driver education.

What You’ll Bring

• A high school diploma or GED.
• A current Pennsylvania driver’s license with no moving violations during the previous three years.
• At least five years of driving experience and a minimum of 15,000 miles driven.
• Knowledge of Pennsylvania traffic laws and PennDOT licensing examination requirements.
• The ability to remain calm, attentive, and safety-focused in changing driving conditions.
• A positive and patient approach when working with students at different skill levels.
• Strong verbal, written, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Comfort using phones, computers, projectors, televisions, and other technology.
• The ability to present driving-related information to individuals and groups.
• A Private Driver Training School Teacher Certificate, or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire.

Candidates must also be able to:

• Pass a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance.
• Pass state and federal criminal background checks.
• Safely monitor students while teaching from the passenger seat.
• React quickly when necessary, including applying the instructor brake or taking control of the steering wheel.
• Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
• Work in environments that may include occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
