Job summary

AAA Central Penn in Lancaster, PA, seeks a part-time Driving School Instructor to help new drivers build skills and confidence. You will deliver behind-the-wheel instruction in AAA vehicles, teach safe driving practices, and support families and communities.

You’ll work mainly with teenage, first-time drivers, with occasional classroom segments and driving assessments. A PA driver's license, 5+ years of driving, and a driving-school certificate or the ability to obtain one within three months

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED.
• PA driver’s license with no moving violations in the last 3 years.
• At least five years of driving experience and 15,000 miles driven.
• Knowledge of PA traffic laws and PennDOT licensing exam requirements.
• Ability to remain calm, attentive, and safety-focused.
• Positive, patient approach when working with students.
• Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to present driving information to individuals and groups.
• Certificate or ability to obtain within 3 months: Private Driver Training School Teacher Certificate.

Responsibilities

You will primarily work with teenage, first-time drivers, while also supporting some experienced and mature drivers. What You’ll Do

• Provide high-quality behind-the-wheel instruction in AAA training vehicles.

• Represent AAA Driving School at schools and community events.
• Help families and community members understand the benefits of professional driver education.

What You’ll Bring

• A high school diploma or GED.
• A current Pennsylvania driver’s license with no moving violations during the previous three years.
• At least five years of driving experience and a minimum of 15,000 miles driven.
• Knowledge of Pennsylvania traffic laws and PennDOT licensing examination requirements.
• The ability to remain calm, attentive, and safety-focused in changing driving conditions.
• A positive and patient approach when working with students at different skill levels.
• Strong verbal, written, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Comfort using phones, computers, projectors, televisions, and other technology.
• The ability to present driving-related information to individuals and groups.
• A Private Driver Training School Teacher Certificate, or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire.

Candidates must also be able to:

• Pass a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance.
• Pass state and federal criminal background checks.
• Safely monitor students while teaching from the passenger seat.
• React quickly when necessary, including applying the instructor brake or taking control of the steering wheel.
• Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
• Work in environments that may include occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
