EMCO Technologies currently has an opening for an A/V IT Field Technician at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your experience supporting the AEGIS contract with NASA, including Audio-Visual Collaboration Solutions Equipment and Conference Room end-user support, as well as the NASA IT Infrastructure. The role involves rapid response to conference room issues, including meeting support in a fast-paced and highly visible environment.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Installing, supporting, and maintaining IT and audio-visual conference room equipment for both legacy and new installations.
  2. Evaluating and recommending product maintenance activities and upgrades.
  3. Performing technical analyses of conference room software, hardware, and transmission equipment using diagnostic tools.
  4. Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical problems related to network failure/integrity and PC hardware/software, including conference room displays, controllers, Crestron devices, AMX, Cisco equipment, speakers, microphones, codecs, touch panels, cameras, and controllers.
  5. Monitoring data traffic and network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission.
  6. Providing high-level customer service and end-user support, especially for VIP customers.
  7. Conducting testing and dry-runs to verify repairs, hardware installations, and configuration changes.
  8. Performing preventative maintenance and ongoing patching of conference room equipment.
  9. Supporting root cause analysis activities related to conference room incidents.
  10. Utilizing and expanding knowledge of company, client, and process specifics.
  11. Resolving work orders related to Network, VOIP, and conference room equipment.
  12. Addressing incidents according to service level agreements for IT and AV equipment.
  13. Solving straightforward problems and providing ad-hoc training to end users and room operators.
  14. Analyzing solutions using standard procedures and completing tasks with moderate guidance.
  15. Explaining technical information clearly in straightforward situations.
  16. Ensuring consistent end-user experiences with equipment and services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years supporting conference room technologies, including virtual meeting platforms, microphones, speakers, codecs, room controllers, projectors, phones, AV calibration, video walls, amplifiers, and similar technologies (e.g., BiAmp, Shure, Extron, Control Professional, Qsys).
  • 3+ years experience with fiber optic, copper, and category cabling.
  • 3+ years troubleshooting and repairing AV equipment.
  • 3+ years troubleshooting complex routing and switching issues.
  • 3+ years configuring switches, routers, network appliances, and WAN acceleration devices.

Required Skills:

  • Intermediate to advanced troubleshooting skills with AV conference equipment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to interpret network drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to identify telecom color codes.
  • Physical ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
