Job summary

Pafford Emergency Medical Services (PEMS) in Ridgeland, MS, is seeking a full-time 911 Telecommunicator/ Emergency Call Taker. You will receive and prioritize emergency and administrative calls and dispatch ambulance services using CAD systems.

This role requires excellent communication, calm, teamwork, and the ability to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts in a structured public safety environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize, and often handle multiple emergency and administrative phone calls for assistance.
• Process requests for emergency and non-emergency ambulance service and refer to reference materials and procedures.
• Identify the nature of the problem through appropriate questioning of the caller.
• Summarize critical information for first responders using proper grammar and punctuation.
• Access and operate computer databases and search websites as necessary.
• Receive and transmit information effectively by radio and telephone.
• Coordinate with law enforcement, fire/medical personnel, and other agencies to relay information clearly.
