Job summary

Rural Metro Fire is seeking 911 Emergency Dispatchers to act as call-takers and telecommunicators for ambulance requests. You will record and manage dispatch data, issue pre-arrival instructions, and support EMS operations with accurate reporting.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, be able to multitask under pressure, and communicate clearly via radio and phone. Training and onboarding lead to a structured role within our dispatch center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimal medical training or telecommunications experience; or at least 1 year as an EMS/public safety dispatcher.
• Fluent reading and writing in English.
• Ability to communicate clearly on radio and telephone.
• Ability to record, transmit and report information accurately.
• Ability to use equipment (computer, phones, radios) and multitask efficiently.
• Ability to understand basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Apply EMS dispatch concepts per established standards.
• Allocate EMS resources using approved protocols.
• Maintain accurate paperwork before the end of shift.
• Enter shift data and State Run Report data.
• Generate and verify applicable reports for accuracy.
• Locate incident scenes and determine safest/ fastest routes.
• Relay instructions from supervisors and emergency information.
• Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures.
• Follow parameters/formats for service requests.
• Operate dispatch equipment as assigned.
