Pennington County Emergency Services / ESCC 911 Communication Center in Rapid City, SD seeks a Dispatcher 1 to handle 911 and non-emergency calls, coordinating with first responders to protect lives and property. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college/vocational training desired.
• Keyboard/typing minimum 30 wpm
• Read, write and clearly speak English
• Must pass a job-related skill test
• US Citizen
• Background screening required
• Certified in NCIC on the job
• SD LET Academy 9-1-1 certification training provided
• ESCC classroom training in basic call taking skills and CAD/PSAP operations

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency 9-1-1 calls and non-emergency calls from the public.
• Triage calls and rapidly analyze information to determine the proper response.
• Review and prioritize law enforcement calls using agency procedures.
• Process emergency medical calls and prepare for dispatch.
• Maintain positive working relationships with agencies and the public.
• Communicate clearly under stress and de-escalate situations.
• Stay calm during shifting, rotating schedules and emergencies.
• Assist with data entry and reporting as needed.
• Complete on-the-job field training for CAD and PSAP operations.
