Job summary

Rush County Sheriff’s Office seeks a full-time 911 Emergency Communications Dispatcher to handle emergency notifications and coordinate responses in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong communication, public service, and teamwork to ensure responder safety and rapid intervention.

The position offers benefits including health insurance, retirement (KPERS), wellness incentives, and paid leave. Shifts are 7:00am–7:00pm or 7:00pm–7:00am, with two days on/off and alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• General knowledge of computer operations and clerical skills.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• No criminal history.

Responsibilities

• Process emergency notifications; determine location and type of incident and provide proper responses.
• Track unit location and availability; document call activity and resource needs.
• Promote department Mission, Vision and Values; train to stay current with system changes.
• Respond to non-emergency requests with information and services; provide weather alerts when needed.
• Maintain records and greet the public; know warrants and civil processes.
