Emergency Telecommunicator Services is seeking qualified 911 dispatchers to connect callers with public safety responders in the Yolo region. You will manage emergency and nonemergency calls, verify details, and coordinate with police, fire, and medical units using CAD systems.

The role requires calm communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure across rotating shifts, including nights and weekends. Training and agency-specific certifications are part of the process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some agencies may recruit entry-level applicants.
• Typing speed and accuracy, active listening, and clear communication are essential.
• Ability to organize information under pressure and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and nonemergency calls within the service area.
• Confirm addresses, callback numbers, and incident details.
• Assess call priority using agency procedures.
• Enter incident information into CAD systems.
• Dispatch responders and coordinate with field units.
• Monitor radio traffic and update personnel as needed.
• Maintain records and protect confidential information.
