Job summary

The Statesville Police Department is hiring a Police Telecommunicator to handle 911 and non-emergency calls, prioritizing requests and dispatching officers while maintaining clear communications during emergencies.

You will operate CAD and RMS systems, document activities, and may train new hires as CTO or audit DCI entries. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with night shifts and open posting date.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age.
• Possession of NC Telecommunicators certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire date.
• Possession of NC DCI certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming calls from the public, prioritize by severity, evaluate requests for service, and decide which public agency should assist.
• Dispatch police and fire personnel and maintain communication during incidents; send additional units as needed.
• Monitor officers in the field and provide information on detainees.
• Log authorizations, warrants, and other data for DCI/NCIC entries; log all activities.
• Operate the CAD system and extract data from the RMS system; use the NCAWARE program to check warrants.
