Job summary

Phoenix Tailings is seeking a Senior Strategic Initiatives Associate to lead cross-functional projects with executives and leaders. You will define objectives, build cases for action, establish practical plans, and drive execution to measurable results.

The ideal candidate brings structured problem solving and strong operating instincts, can align teams with different priorities, and create durable ownership as initiatives move into operations.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years in consulting, corporate strategy, business operations, investment banking, or scaling startup.
• Experience owning complex projects across multiple functions.
• Strong financial and operating analysis; turn findings into a practical plan.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management.
• Sound judgment about when to persevere or pivot; hands-on execution.
• Experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial tech, critical materials, or climate-related industries is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic initiatives from problem definition through implementation and handoff.
• Build business cases, operating models, and recommendations for senior leadership decisions.
• Establish project governance, milestones, metrics, and decision forums for complex work.
• Surface risks, resolve dependencies, and elevate decisions with a clear point of view.
• Communicate progress and recommendations to executives in concise written and verbal updates.
• Create repeatable processes and ownership models for work that becomes part of ongoing operations.
• Coach junior team members and improve the quality of shared analysis and project execution.

• Lead strategic initiatives from problem definition through implementation and handoff.
• Build business cases, operating models, and recommendations for senior leadership decisions.
• Establish project governance, milestones, metrics, and decision forums for complex work.
• Surface risks, resolve dependencies, and elevate decisions with a clear point of view.
• Communicate progress and recommendations to executives in concise written and verbal updates.
• Create repeatable processes and ownership models for work that becomes part of ongoing operations.

Qualifications:

• A typical candidate will have 4 to 7 years of experience in consulting, corporate strategy, business operations,investment banking, or a scaling startup. We value demonstrated scope and results over a rigid tenure requirement.
• Experience owning complex projects that require coordination across several functions.
• Strong financial and operating analysis, with the ability to turn findings into a practical plan.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management.
• Sound judgment about when to work through an issue and when to escape it.
• A hands on approach and willingness to stay close to execution details.
• Experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial technology, critical materials, or climate related industries ishelpful.

What We Offer

This base salary range reflects our best estimate for this role. The final package may vary based on experience andqualifications and includes eligibility for a discretionary bonus and equity.

Base Salary Range: $135,000 to $165,000
