Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing in Kansas City, MO is seeking a dedicated janitor to maintain clean, organized facilities and meet Company standards, following standard work and daily checklists. You will clean fixtures, restrooms, floors, and surrounding grounds; use ladders when needed; and support plant flow.

The position runs 12:00 PM–8:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional early arrival, late stay, or weekend work to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of professional janitorial experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English for safety and instructions.
• Maintains high standards of performance, reliability, and integrity.
• Takes responsibility for actions, results, and learning from mistakes.
• Works with sense of urgency to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Follows standard work and daily checklists to ensure tasks are performed to standard.
• Clean and repair building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
• Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms/locker rooms.
• Clean, dust, wipe, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty wastebaskets and trash containers; use ladders when required.
• Remove outside debris and maintain grounds; tend landscape and fence lines.
• Clean all windows indoors and sanitize lunchroom areas.
• Support plant flow by rotating through duties as needed.
• Other duties assigned by Management.

Who We Want:

Performs janitorial duties necessary to maintain and protect the assigned areas of responsibility. Ensures that external and internal appearance of a building is clean, organized and meets Company standards.

What You’ll Do:

• Follows standard work and daily checklists to ensure that all assigned tasks are performed to standard and meet expectations.
• Clean and make minor repair to building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
• Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms/locker rooms using established practices and procedures.
• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
• Use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Remove outside debris and maintain grounds as assigned.
• Maintain the landscape around the buildings and fence lines.
• Clean all windows indoors.
• Clean and sanitize lunchrooms floors, furniture, and counters.
• Other duties assigned by the Management.

When and Where:

This will be a 2 Shift / 12:00PM-8:30PM M-F position located at our Plant in Kansas City, MO Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.

What You Need to Have:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Associates Degree
• Minimum 2 years of professional janitorial experience. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications.
• Has high standards of performance for self.

• Must be able to work up to 12 hours per day including Saturday and Sunday
• Proven experience as janitor or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
• Familiarity with handyman and basic landscaping practices.
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
• Respectful and able to take direction.
• Able to work with little supervision
