Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a dedicated janitor for our Kansas City plant. The role involves cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining a safe, organized work environment across building interiors and exteriors.

The position supports production needs with flexible hours and adherence to standard work procedures. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of janitorial experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree beneficial.
• Minimum 2 years of professional janitorial experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Attention to detail and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Follow standard work and daily checklists to complete tasks to standard.
• Clean and repair building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
• Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms/locker rooms.
• Dust, wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.
• Empty wastebaskets and trash containers; manage waste as required.
• Move within work areas to support plant flow and meet customer needs.
• Work up to 12 hours per day, including weekends if required.

Ensures that external and internal appearance of a building is clean, organized and meets Company standards.What You’ll Do:· Follows standard work and daily checklists to ensure that all assigned tasks are performed to standard and meet expectations.· Clean and make minor repair to building fixtures including lights, locks, windows, doors, screens, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.· Clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms/locker rooms using established practices and procedures.· Clean, dust, and wipe furniture, sweep, mop, or vacuum floors.· Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers.· Use ladders when required in work assignments.· Remove outside debris and maintain grounds as assigned.· Maintain the landscape around the buildings and fence lines.· Clean all windows indoors.· Clean and sanitize lunchrooms floors, furniture, and counters.· Other duties assigned by the Management.When and Where:This will be a 2 Shift / 12:00PM-8:30PM M-F position located at our Plant in Kansas City, MOOccasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.What You Need to Have:· High School Diploma or equivalent· Associates Degree· Minimum 2 years of professional janitorial experience.Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level sufficient to safely and effectively perform job duties, including following work instructions, safety procedures, and company communications.· Has high standards of performance for self.· Takes responsibility for actions, results, and mistakes.· Is thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; demonstrates honesty and integrity in all aspects of work.· Takes positive action to objectively resolve conflict by listening, staying focused on issue to find resolution, and monitoring progress.· Maintains positive relationships by constructively resolving conflicts.· Uses feedback from others to continuously improve performance and work relationships.· Moves within own and/or other work areas (flexes) to support plant flow.· Works with sense of urgency to meet needs of customers.· Has necessary experience, skills, and knowledge to perform all aspects of job; rotates through all job responsibilities.· Maintains knowledge and skills to perform job effectively.· Has ability to focus on benefits of change and see it as positive; approaches change or newness in constructive/objective manner; views change as learning opportunity.· Looks for good in others; works collaboratively with others; shares information and knowledge.· Is at work when scheduled and ensures coverage when absent; takes timely breaks/lunches; uses time wisely.· Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal workplace instructions· Must be able to work up to 12 hours per day including Saturday and Sunday· Proven experience as janitor or in a similar role.· Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.· Familiarity with handyman and basic landscaping practices.· Attention to detail and conscientiousness.· Respectful and able to take direction.· Able to work with little supervision
