Job summary

Scituate Public Schools’ Gates Middle School in Scituate, MA is seeking a Long Term Substitute Specialized Paraprofessional for the SY26-27 term. The role provides 60-day assignment supports students with intensive paraprofessional needs under teachers and BCBA/counselor guidance.

Responsibilities include small-group and 1:1 instructional support, implementing behavior plans, data collection, and assisting with accommodations outlined in IEPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to follow directions from principal/lead educator.
• Ability to work independently and maintain safety.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and handle physical requirements.
• Must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups with instruction.
• Proctor tests and support MCAS and other assessments.
• Provide supervision and behavioral support.
• Support use of assistive technology and implement accommodations.
• Follow behavior plans and document student progress.
• Attend trainings and meetings as scheduled.
• Provide 1:1 instruction and ABA-related support if trained.
• Collaborate with teachers to support IEP goals.
